Why it works
A bold challenge card lands by 0.25 seconds, then a partial answer types forward from about 0.75 to 1.25 seconds. The mascot smiles at 1.50 seconds and a green check appears by 1.75 seconds, giving the learning action an immediate emotional and UI payoff; new card sets around 3, 6, and 9 seconds show that the loop repeats.
