Dots: an always-on assistant in two worlds
A cinematic product launch film that proves an assistant through interwoven work and life tasks, human approvals, and a quiet brand reveal.
Field notes / why it works
The first shot holds 6.71 seconds but changes internally twice in the first three seconds, turning a silhouette into a colourful brand reveal before speech starts at 0:16.5. Rapid, concrete task setups at 0:37–1:11 return as visible results and user corrections from 1:19 onward; the 2:07 scheduling conflict gives the productivity story a human payoff. Its 68 shots and 26 internal changes sustain pace without adding captions over the cinematic scenes.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A cinematic launch film introduces a personified assistant through a dark, nearly wordless brand reveal, then follows two adults through work and personal tasks. The product's promise arrives in speech at 0:16–0:23: it stays available, advances tasks, and asks for human decisions at meaningful points. A return visit at 1:19 turns earlier promises into finished work, before the 2:21 logo end card.
Why it works
- The opening withholds dialogue for 16.46 seconds. A silhouette, a slowly resolving multicolour wordmark at 1.25–2.00, and glimpses of objects at 0:08–0:16 create a visual mystery before the product introduces itself.
- The middle shows several kinds of help in concrete scenes: website and board deck at 0:37–0:48, app migration at 0:48–0:59, and a wedding vendor at 0:59–1:11. The user gives a constraint or approval instead of merely accepting a claim.
- The second half pays off those setups: revised site at 1:19, deck at 1:35, development results at 1:48, then a family scheduling conflict at 2:07. The film uses 68 shots and 26 internal picture changes across 2:27.8 to make varied tasks feel continuous.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 1280×720 · 23.98 fps · 2:27.8 |
| Pace | 68 shots; 67 cuts = 27.2/min; 26 internal changes, 37.8 picture changes/min total; mean shot 2.17 s, median 1.71 s; longest 7.55 s |
| Script | 343 spoken words; 168 wpm across the full film, roughly 237 wpm during speech; 47 short sentences, mean 7.3 words; speech starts 0:16.46 |
| Voice | Several natural conversational voices: a friendly assistant persona, two adult users, with quick responses and longer practical updates. Aggregate pitch data should not be treated as one speaker's profile. |
| On screen | Predominantly live-action interiors and portraits; recurring in-world interface screens and product-character portraits; brief branded motion graphics. Approx. 75% people/sets, 20% screens/props, 5% logo/graphic (inferred from sheets). |
| Captions | No burned dialogue captions. Interface text lives on devices; character illustrations act as visual identifiers. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal music-like bed; roughly 129 BPM; product dialogue and natural speech above it. Measured integrated −16.4 LUFS, true peak −2.1 dBFS. |
| Structure | Mystery/brand intro → introduction → task setup montage → spatial reset → results and feedback → human-stakes resolution → logo end card. |
