Field notes / why it works

The almost blank opening turns a small question at 0:01 into a visual puzzle, then animated fragments reward close attention before the first cut at 0:06. A burst of six cuts in the 0:30–0:35 interval jolts the film into its introduction, and the mark appears around 0:38. Later value cards become concrete people/work/learning graphics at 1:02–1:06 before a clean four-second brand hold at 1:14.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A 78-second, 16:9 rebrand announcement made almost entirely from kinetic typography. It first asks the viewer to look closer, then turns abstract values into a sequence of typographic examples and finally resolves them into a brand mark. The promise appears visually at about 0:01 with a small question card; the actual brand is withheld until about 0:38.

Why it works

  • The opening withholds detail: nearly blank cream for the first second, a small outlined question at 0:01, then scattered red strokes at 0:03. The viewer has to inspect the screen.
  • The rhythm changes sharply at 0:31–0:35: after long minimal cards, six cuts in the 30–35 second bin introduce a rapid reveal sequence.
  • The last third gives the abstract manifesto a concrete destination: value words at 0:51–0:55, people/work/learning at 1:02–1:06, then the full logo and tagline at 1:14.

Platform · aspect · lengthYouTube · 16:9 · 640×360 source · 78.0 s at 24 fps
Pace33 shots; 32 measured cuts, or 24.6–27.7 cuts/min allowing four uncertain changes at 0:29–0:30; 33.1 picture changes/min including 11 internal steps; mean shot 2.37 s, median 1.58 s
ScriptPrimarily written cards, not spoken narration. The speech detector returned only seven punctuation tokens and no reliable words; spoken WPM is not applicable.
VoiceNo identifiable speaking voice; typography carries the message.
On screenEssentially 100% designed graphics and type; no people, footage, or product UI visible in the supplied sheets.
CaptionsNo subtitles. Short, centered uppercase message cards and oversized outline type serve as the content.
SoundContinuous tonal, music-like bed (inferred from measurement), rough 121 BPM; no clear cut-linked effects; measured −12.0 LUFS integrated.
StructureSeven broad beats: visual question → directional statement → values → rapid introduction → brand reveal → manifesto examples → end card. Payoff at 0:38–0:42; final brand lockup at 1:14; no explicit CTA.
