The Shepherd's Website Reveal

A quiet pastoral story delays its website-builder reveal until a physical laptop insert halfway through.

Field notes / why it works

A 3.7-second silent wide sets up an odd meeting between a rider and a worker, making the viewer read the scene before the first word at 6.2 seconds. The product waits until a 1.84-second laptop close-up at 17.2 seconds, then the patient 19.1–30.0-second reaction sequence lets the reveal land without graphics. Eight detected shots in 37 seconds give the film room to feel like a story.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A restrained, cinematic scene places a mundane business problem in an unexpected landscape. Two contrasting characters exchange a few deadpan lines; one shows a real product result on a laptop, and the story returns to the wide scene. The product becomes the answer to the visual puzzle set up at the start.

Why it works

  • At 0:00–3.7, a rider, a lone shepherd, and a flock share one wide frame; their relationship is clear before anyone speaks at 6.2 s.
  • The first explicit product proof waits until 17.2 s, when a laptop displays a wool shop site; the opening has earned a reveal.
  • The edit stays unusually patient for an ad: 8 detected shots in 37 s, with a 7.59 s wide from 9.6 s and a 10.97 s sequence from 19.1 s.

Platform · aspect · lengthYouTube · 16:9 · 37.0 s · source 640×360 at 23.98 fps
Pace8 detected shots, 7 certain cuts, 11.3–13.0 cuts/min allowing one uncertain event; 4 internal picture changes, 17.8 visual changes/min; mean detected shot 4.63 s
Script13 machine-transcribed words, 25 wpm over the whole film and about 137 wpm during speech; transcript has 5 low-confidence words and misses some likely dialogue (inferred from mouths and scene), so use timing rather than exact wording
VoiceTwo older, grounded character voices; conversational, dry, with conspicuous gaps between brief turns
On screenLive-action exterior throughout except a 1.84 s laptop screen insert at 17.2 s; wide landscape, medium character views, and a close product view
CaptionsNone seen; product screen has an editorial serif headline
SoundQuiet continuous tonal bed measured at about −36 dBFS, possibly score or location ambience; no clear cut accents; −15.9 LUFS integrated, −2.1 dBFS true peak
StructureEstablish place → character exchange → product proof → reaction → wide exit; product at 17.2 s, no separate end card or on-screen CTA visible in the supplied sheets
