Orbitals co-op launch trailer
A cinematic game launch montage that proves two-player cooperation through split-screen action before a clear availability reveal.
Field notes / why it works
A bright brand sting flips to a dark mystery by 0:02, and the action montage keeps changing pictures at about 45 confirmed cuts per minute. Split-screen gameplay at 0:30–0:35 visibly proves the cooperative mechanic and overlaps the strongest replay peak at 0:33; five-second title and four-second edition cards make the launch action readable after the climax.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A wide cinematic launch trailer opens with a platform or brand sting, moves into a mystery, then lets rapid feature and world footage carry the pitch. It withholds the product name until the last 9 seconds, where a clean availability card and an edition or bundle card convert the spectacle into a purchase action.
Why it works
- The first spoken question begins at 0:01.6, just after a bright 0:00.1–0:01.8 platform sting; the dark, unexplained environment at 0:02 creates an immediate open loop.
- The 0:10–0:24 run changes environment and action nearly every second, while split-screen traversal at 0:30–0:35 makes the two-player feature visible rather than explained.
- Replay peaks at 0:33.0–0:33.6 during that cooperative gameplay and at 0:40.8–0:41.4 around the character/story turn. The end card at 0:51.0 finally supplies the title and availability.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 60.0 s · measured source 640×360 at 30 fps |
| Pace | 46 shots · 45 confirmed cuts/min, up to 54 including uncertain changes · 1.3 s mean, 0.93 s median shot · about 46 measured picture changes/min |
| Script | 32 detected spoken words · 38 wpm across the whole trailer, about 94 wpm during speech · sparse character dialogue; transcription has 13 low-confidence words |
| Voice | Several youthful animated-character voices, excited and questioning; no explanatory narrator (speaker count inferred) |
| On screen | Roughly 3% platform sting, 40% gameplay and world montage, 22% split-screen co-op gameplay, 20% animated character/story and set pieces, 15% title/offer cards (estimated from sheets) |
| Captions | No running subtitles; only logos, short Japanese headline, game title, availability, edition label, and in-game interface text |
