The Diminutive Filter Cartoon
A 97-second animated language explainer turns word changes into exaggerated portrait filters and a late comic glitch.
Field notes / why it works
The filter premise is spoken by 0:04 and shown as an exaggerated portrait at 0:02.25, making an abstract language concept immediately visual. The eager host and deadpan foil keep 97 seconds of instruction comic, while 23 in-shot changes refresh the 27-shot edit. A rapid, mostly speech-free test at 1:19–1:28 contains the strongest replay peak at 1:23.4–1:24.4.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A colorful 2D character comedy introduces a supposedly helpful “filter,” then uses its exaggerated portrait cards to visualize a small concept. An enthusiastic explainer tries to teach while a deadpan foil resists; a rapid test montage pushes the filter until it breaks, ending on a blame joke.
Why it works
- The premise arrives in speech by 0:04, while a mock beauty-filter card appears at 0:02.25.
- The same word transformation is taught through dialogue, floating labels, and character makeovers between 0:09 and 1:19; 23 internal graphic changes keep long shots active.
- The payoff is unusually late and replayable: the 1:19–1:28 test montage reaches the most-replayed point at 1:23.4–1:24.4.
