Field notes / why it works

The opening reveals a painted sea by 0:01 while the narrator starts with a familiar metaphor, giving the invisible subject a visual map. A word-built diagram at 1:05 lands at the strongest replay peak, and tests at 1:52, 2:22, and 3:12 make the explanation cumulative. Graphic changes accelerate to 7–9 per ten seconds from 3:40–4:30 as the practical stakes arrive, before a qualified ending returns to the opening image.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A narrated, illustrated research explainer begins with a familiar physical metaphor, crosses into an invisible technical system, and tests that system through progressively more consequential examples. The payoff is a careful answer with an explicit limit to what the evidence proves.

Why it works

  • At 0:00, the ocean metaphor gives the viewer a mental map before any technical term; a fleet appears by 0:02.75 and the narration moves below the surface at 0:12.
  • A named, inspectable construct appears around 1:05; that passage is the strongest replay peak, 1:05.4–1:08.7. The abstract claim becomes a word-built boat, sea and clouds on screen.
  • Three tests at 1:52, 2:22 and 3:12 turn a theory into evidence; the pace then spikes to 7–9 picture changes per ten seconds from 3:40–4:30 as the practical stakes arrive.

VoiceLow-register, precise, curious research narrator; 116 Hz median pitch with pronounced movement
On screenAlmost entirely bespoke illustration and kinetic typography: painted ocean and sailing ship; white point clouds; word-built landscapes; example cards; later sky and a small logo. No presenter.
CaptionsNo conventional subtitles in the supplied frames. Text is evidence and illustration: tiny monospaced words, compact prompt boxes, a few chapter labels.
SoundContinuous tonal bed measured about 11.8 dB below voice; −13.8 LUFS integrated; true peak about 0 dBFS in the measurement.
