A Crisis Explained as a Growing Whiteboard Map

A six-minute economics explainer turns a fast lecture into one continuously drawn black-and-red argument map.

Field notes / why it works

The hand keeps adding drawings within long shots, so even the 70.16-second opening has visual progress. Four explanations accumulate from 0:31 to 3:28 before the systemic-risk pivot at 4:34; the most-replayed span, 5:22–5:29, visualizes the new causal frame as a labor-versus-capital crowd scene.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A fast, low register lecture surveys familiar explanations of a complex problem, then reveals a deeper causal frame. A visible marker hand keeps extending a black ink mural on a white board; sparse red words, arrows, and flags guide the eye through the argument. The promise arrives in speech at 0:19–0:31: the viewer will get a taxonomy of explanations before the speaker's own diagnosis.

Why it works

  • The hand turns exposition into a live construction: the first word takes 0:00–0:08.9 to appear, and drawings keep developing even inside the 70.16-second opening shot.
  • Four familiar theories create a ladder from 0:31 to 3:28, making the new systemic frame at 4:34–4:49 feel earned.
  • The 5:22–5:29 replay peak coincides with a dense but legible labor-versus-capital tableau and a crowd being drawn, not a cut-heavy montage.
