Field notes / why it works

By 0:06, one plain request and several rival-color reactions establish the social conflict. Phone inserts at 0:08–0:11 reveal the product through use, then compact answer cards and extended pauses carry the comedy until the facilitator's dry pivot at 0:23–0:27. A short overhead benefit line and 1.7-second black brand card provide a clean finish.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A small group is given a simple social task they clearly dislike. A product appears as a discreet aid in close-up, while a sequence of polite on-screen answers only makes the room feel more awkward. The facilitator gives up and proposes an even simpler task; the brand signs off.

Why it works

  • The challenge is understandable by 0:06: people in rival colors must say something kind to one another. No explanation of the rivalry is needed.
  • The phones at 0:08–0:11 turn the product into an action taken under pressure, not a standalone interface tour.
  • Around 0:08–0:17, roughly nine seconds of sparse speech let reaction shots and written compliments carry the joke. The pivot at 0:23–0:27 provides the payoff.
