Field notes / why it works

The lesson makes an abstract system tangible with a 0:06–0:49 origin story, then follows one fictional coffee company through an IPO at 1:28, rising demand at 1:50–2:02, and a reversal at 2:14. That IPO reveal falls at the strongest replay peak (1:26.4–1:29.1); 46 graphic steps inside 31 scenes keep the slower cut pace visually active.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A calm animated lesson starts with a historical origin story, converts the abstract system into one fictional business, shows a positive cycle and its reversal, then broadens into real-world uncertainty and a practical takeaway. The title promises a stock-market explanation; the opening quote and first historical scene postpone the direct question until 1:06.9, when the mechanism becomes the focus.

Why it works

  • The first 72 seconds turn an abstract institution into ships, trade goods, maps, coins, and investors before asking how the modern system works (1:06.9).
  • A fictional coffee company makes the mechanism observable: fundraising at 1:18, IPO typography at 1:28, buying and ownership at 1:39–1:45, demand and rising price at 1:50–2:02.
  • The positive cycle reverses at 2:14; a visual supply/demand seesaw at 2:41 and a falling graph at 3:15 prevent the middle from becoming a list of definitions. The most-replayed point, 1:26.4–1:29.1, coincides with the IPO reveal.
