A fast group decision, drawn in stick figures
A brisk illustrated explainer makes approval voting tangible with six people, three choices and two visual tests.
Field notes / why it works
The six-person, three-choice setup at 0:13–0:23 makes a procedural problem visible before the rule is named. A repeated hand-raise test resolves it at 0:37–0:46, and a second scenario at 0:51–1:06 proves the idea transfers. The counterintuitive clarification at 1:13.9–1:14.9 is also the most-replayed moment.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
An animated narrator presents a mundane group choice, shows the usual method producing an absurdly bad outcome, then demonstrates one simple change and tests it again in a second setting. The benefit is visible before the rule is fully explained, and a final objection becomes one more joke and clarification.
Why it works
- A three-option dinner decision at 0:13–0:23 turns an abstract voting problem into a six-person picture with obvious stakes.
- The actual procedure is shown in roughly five seconds at 0:37–0:42: options appear above the same six characters, then the outcome lands immediately.
- The most-replayed second, 1:13.9–1:14.9, coincides with the counterintuitive clarification that supporting more than one acceptable choice is intentional.
