48-Second Motion Design Showreel

A compact portfolio montage that jumps across client styles and accelerates into a fast visual burst before a quiet contact card.

Field notes / why it works

A tiny flare becomes a character and a readable showreel title within 1.2 seconds, then the first polished project appears immediately. The 23-shot sequence keeps changing palette and medium, and six cuts between 0:40 and 0:45 compress into three 0.32-second flashes before a calm four-second contact card.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A compact 16:9 motion-design portfolio: a glowing mascot and title establish authorship in under 1.2 s, then unrelated-looking client pieces demonstrate range. A quicker run of very short shots near 0:43 creates a final burst before the quiet contact card.

Why it works

  • The first second moves from a tiny light to a recognizable face and title, making a visual pattern interrupt without a long introduction (0:00–0:01.2).
  • Work samples keep changing medium and palette: documentary-style title (0:02), live-action compositing (0:07), white app card (0:15), gaming graphics (0:26), and map/UI work (0:38).
  • Six cuts occur from 0:40–0:45, including three 0.32 s flashes at 0:42.8–0:43.8; the release is a 4.24 s black contact card.
