TACTYC Studio's 71-Second CGI Showreel
A wordless 84-shot motion showreel that turns contrasting CGI work into a fast visual portfolio with a callback-heavy finale.
Field notes / why it works
Five cuts in the first three seconds move from near-white snow through orange sunlight and red/gold macro imagery to a tiny mark on black, promising visual range before the first product appears at 0:02.4. Across 84 shots, the 0.85-second average keeps the portfolio moving while longer holds create relief; the 1:00–1:07 callback burst coincides with the strongest replay peak at 1:01.1–1:01.8.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A wordless, widescreen studio reel sells range and craft through successive visual surprises. Its promise is visual rather than spoken: within roughly two seconds, the viewer sees a stark environment, a warm flash, a gold close-up, then a tiny studio mark; the ensuing minute demonstrates many styles with fast, music-led cutting.
Why it works
- The first picture changes at 0:00.48; five cuts land inside three seconds. Snow-white scenes, orange sunlight, red and gold macro imagery, and black title space create an immediate contrast ladder.
- The 84 shots average 0.85 s (median 0.68 s), yet the material varies by subject and scale: shoes at 0:39.8, a car at 0:42.2, an imagined landscape at 0:49.6, and abstract close-ups around 1:04–1:06.
- The final montage revisits earlier textures and projects at 1:00–1:07. The highest replay peak is 1:01.1–1:01.8, during a basketball-to-fiery-organic sequence.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 71.0 s · measured source 640×360 at 25 fps |
| Pace | 84 shots, 83 detected cuts; 70.1–75.2 cuts/min allowing six uncertain changes; 71.8 confirmed picture changes/min; mean 0.85 s, median 0.68 s |
| Script | No spoken script. One isolated detected “Oh” at 0:16.9 is too little to count as voiceover; no usable WPM. |
| Voice | None; visual and rhythmic performance carry the reel. |
| On screen | Nearly all CGI/motion work: product macro, abstract material, environmental and character/fantasy scenes (observed in sampled sheets). No presenter or screen recording. |
| Captions | None. A small white brand mark appears on black at roughly 0:01.5–0:02.3; project-specific typography appears inside some work. |
| Sound | Music-like rhythmic bed at about 121 BPM (measured, moderate confidence); cut accents suggested by audio jumps on 60% of cuts. −10.7 LUFS integrated; measured true peak +2.1 dBFS. |
| Structure | Cold visual sampler → quiet mark → widening portfolio → fast project clusters → compressed callback montage → long last hold. No on-video spoken CTA visible. |
