Two Meanings of a Coin-Sized Black Hole
A cartoon science Short turns a size ambiguity into two escalating, quantified disasters.
Field notes / why it works
The premise is clear by 0:02.5 through a floating coin, character and giant headline; animation supplies 11 internal changes despite only five certain cuts. A precise 450-terajoule reveal becomes a bright explosion at 0:17, the strongest replay peak, and the mass-to-diameter reversal at 0:25 launches a second escalation from person to planet.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A bright, cartoon-led science explainer puts a tiny object beside a character and asks what happens next. It resolves one meaning of “coin-sized” with a large numerical consequence, then changes the definition from mass to diameter and escalates from one person's fate to a planet-scale outcome.
Why it works
- By 0:02.5, the narrator has stated an impossible-feeling scenario, while a small coin and character establish scale; a large headline appears around 0:00.8.
- At 0:15–0:18, a precise 450-terajoule label turns an abstract process into an explosion. The 0:16.8–0:17.4 moment is the strongest measured replay peak.
- At 0:25, “but” redefines the same phrase. The ensuing Earth comparison at 0:29–0:31 and giant dark space sequence at 0:47 raise the consequence twice.
