Boulder City Solar and Storage Film
A 41-second aerial project announcement that turns installation scale into concrete community impact through centered facts.
Field notes / why it works
The opening location label and translucent pointer orient the viewer within the first 3 seconds, while eleven wide aerials make the facility feel physically real. Exact figures land over matching evidence: the panel count at 0:11.1 coincides with the strongest replay peak at 0:11.3–0:11.8, then the film converts output to homes at about 0:27 before a spare logo close.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent, music-led project film shows an energy installation from the air while one centered line at a time supplies the facts. It starts with place, moves from physical scale to precise capacity, then translates output into a human benefit before ending on a clean brand mark.
Why it works
- The first 0.6 s establishes a real landscape, then a location label orients the viewer; the opening map-like overlay makes the site feel findable.
- Exact numbers arrive over matching proof: panel count at 0:11.1 over a seemingly endless array, storage capacity at 0:15.2 over battery rows. The 0:11.3–0:11.8 replay peak coincides with the panel-scale reveal.
- The last third turns technical output into consequences: annual generation around 0:18.8, homes around 0:26.6, avoided emissions around 0:30.0. The figures are spread across distinct views rather than stacked on one card.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 41.0 s · measured copy 640×360 at 23.98 fps |
| Pace | 11 shots, 10 cuts, 14.6 cuts/min; 9 changes within shots, 27.8 picture changes/min; mean hold 3.73 s |
| Script | No spoken words; approximately one brief information line per shot, with a few shots held after the text appears |
| Voice | None; silent-viewing text carries the narrative |
| On screen | Aerial landscape, city, solar-array and battery-site footage throughout; final logo card |
| Text | Small, white, centered, mixed-case factual lines; no subtitles, boxes, or highlighted words |
| Sound | Continuous music-led bed; rough tempo 125 BPM, low-confidence estimate; no clear cut SFX; measured −9.2 LUFS integrated |
| Structure | Place → proximity → facility → solar count → storage capacity → annual output → recipients → homes → emissions → wide closing view → logo |
