Vectors Become a Reachable Space
A narrated math explainer turns two moving vectors into a visual proof of an entire reachable space.
Field notes / why it works
The first operation is shown before its name at 0:59–1:34, so the definition has a visual anchor. A prediction question at 2:17 leads into the 2:35–2:42 replay peak, while the line-versus-plane contrast at 3:17–4:14 makes the abstract term visible. The 4:43–5:31 arrow-to-point transformation provides a second, larger visual payoff without a hard cut.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A calm but quick narrator revisits something familiar, changes how the viewer interprets it, then lets one animated diagram demonstrate the new idea. The explanation alternates between exact examples and all-possible-cases views until a technical term feels like a label for something the viewer has already seen.
Why it works
- The coordinate reinterpretation begins by 0:32, then the first concrete operation unfolds from 0:59–1:20 before the terminology arrives at 1:31.
- The viewer is asked which outcomes are reachable at 2:17; the answer at 2:24 and the replay peak at 2:35–2:42 sit beside the worked alternate-basis example.
- From 3:17 a moving tip traces a line; by 4:09 the term span names the visual distinction between a whole plane and one line. At 5:20–5:31 many arrows simplify into points and a sheet.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 6:00 measured segment |
| Pace | One continuous motion-graphic shot, 0 cuts/min by detector; 17 detected step changes, or 2.8/min. The moving diagram changes between those steps, so this is not a static six-minute hold. |
| Script | 1,060 words, 183 wpm over the segment, 228 wpm while speaking; 46 sentences averaging 23 words; four questions. |
| Voice | One medium-register, animated, conversational educator; no visible presenter. |
| On screen | Nearly 100% designed animation: vectors, grids, labels, coordinates, tiny character gag, logo open. |
| Captions | No speech subtitles in the supplied frames. Short mathematical labels and occasional serif explanatory text are integrated with the diagram. |
| Sound | Brief opening music/logo sound before speech; nearly silent gaps beneath dry narration. −16.5 LUFS integrated, measured true peak +0.1 dBFS. |
| Structure | Logo → familiar setup → scalar/basis demo → alternate example and question → line/plane cases → definition → arrows-to-points abstraction; no CTA in the measured six minutes. |
