Rainy Taxi Hunt, Skipped
A 15-second cinematic service ad turns a rainy street problem into a phone action, taxi arrival and compact final line.
Field notes / why it works
The opening 0–3 seconds makes the friction legible through wet streets, headlights, umbrellas and a frustrated human gesture. A phone close-up around 0:08.3 leads to branded vehicle proof around 0:10.6, then a large white benefit line at 0:13.4; the phone moment aligns with the strongest supplied replay interval (0:08.4–0:08.6). The four detected segments undercount the opening's visible view changes, so 12 cuts/min is a measured lower bound.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A 15-second, cinematic problem/solution commercial. A person is caught in an immediately recognizable everyday inconvenience; a phone choice and a branded real-world arrival resolve it; a large, short final line names the relief. The product waits until the audience has felt the problem.
Why it works
- Immediate stakes: the first 0–3 seconds show a wet night street, headlights, a frustrated person and umbrellas before any explanation.
- Tactile proof: the phone enters around 0:08.3, followed by a branded vehicle around 0:10.6; the solution has both an action and a physical result.
- Delayed, legible payoff: the headline appears over the resolved scene around 0:13.4. The 0:08.4–0:08.6 phone moment is the strongest replay point in the supplied YouTube curve; that is an attention signal, not proof of why individuals replayed.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 640×360 measured · 25 fps · 15.0 s |
| Pace | 4 machine-detected segments, 3 detected cuts, 12 cuts/min, 3.76 s average segment. The hook sheet visibly contains additional picture changes inside segment 1, so 12/min is a lower bound for the experienced edit pace. |
| Script | 21 automated word tokens; ~113 wpm over the whole film, ~151 wpm while vocalizing. Chinese transcription is low confidence, so use these as approximate pace cues, not as a script. |
| Voice | Low-register, expressive adult male vocal (archetype); brief rhythmic/spoken delivery over the first ~11 s (exact wording and delivery are uncertain from the transcript). |
| On screen | Live-action rain/street/character, phone insert, branded vehicle and final wide. Four detected edit segments; several setups are visible within the long opening segment. |
| Captions | Small white Chinese subtitle line near the lower centre for the vocal; final large white bold question/answer line over footage. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal, music-like bed; measured −9.3 LUFS integrated, +0.4 dBFS true peak. Bed is only ~2 dB below detected vocal in the analysis, so the mix is music-forward. |
| Structure | Four beats: friction → searching/choice → product arrives → short benefit line. Payoff starts around 0:10.6; headline around 0:13.4; no visible loop. |
