Vectors, Made Visible
A long-form animated math explainer that builds vector intuition through evolving diagrams and a physical analogy.
Field notes / why it works
The first 6:00 moves from three viewpoints (0:20–1:25) to a chosen visual model, then builds axes, coordinates, and notation in spoken order (2:52–3:56). The most-replayed measured span at 3:50.9–3:56.8 coincides with the arrow-to-number bridge; 4:45–5:43 makes vector addition visible before explaining it as consecutive steps. The cut detector finds one continuous composition, but 25 marked visual steps and ongoing diagram motion carry the pacing.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A calm but quick narrated lesson turns an abstract idea into a sequence of pictures: competing mental models, one chosen model, a coordinate system, then a worked operation. The viewer sees each definition become a moving object before the next layer of notation appears. The opening visual brand sting lasts about 11 seconds; the teaching promise arrives in the narration at 0:11–0:20.
Why it works
- At 0:20–1:25, three archetypal viewpoints make an unfamiliar term feel familiar before the lesson chooses one.
- At 2:52–3:56, axes, origin, steps, arrow, and bracketed numbers arrive in order, matching the spoken explanation; the 3:50.9–3:56.8 interval is a replay peak.
- At 4:45–5:43, a two-arrow operation is shown, then explained as a physical walk, converting a rule into an intuition.

| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 9:52 post; supplied measurements and this blueprint cover 0:00–6:00 at 640×360, 30 fps |
| Pace | Detector: 1 continuous composition, 0 hard cuts, 25 marked visual steps in 6:00 (4.2/min). Continuous diagram animation also occurs between marked steps; 360 s is a detector shot length, not a static hold. |
| Script | 1,162 transcribed words in 6:00 · 200 wpm overall, 244 wpm within speech runs · 51 sentences averaging 22.8 words · 3 questions |
| Voice | One low register, animated, precise and conversational narrator; no on-camera person |
| On screen | Full-frame motion graphics: black field, grids/axes, arrows, numbers, diagrams, typographic labels, three simple character icons |
| Captions | No burned speech captions; only teaching labels, equations, annotations, and chapter terms |
| Sound | Brief instrumental opening; measured pauses nearly silent, with no sustained bed under narration |
| Structure | Brand sting → three viewpoints → chosen mental model → coordinates → 3D extension → addition demonstration → movement analogy; the supplied portion ends during the analogy, with no CTA or loop |
