Field notes / why it works

Robot arms form a heart and the dating title appears by about 1 second, making the industrial/romantic mismatch instantly legible. Successive first-person profiles pair visible capabilities with character jokes, and the category switch from robot musician to white seat at 1:00 aligns with the strongest replay peak.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A Valentine's themed mock dating reel gives industrial robots the language of personal ads. A literal robot-arm heart and the words “ROBOT DATING” establish the joke by about 1 s; a succession of first-person introductions then pairs each personality trait with real footage of a capability.

Why it works

  • The opening pairs a factory with glossy robot arms forming a heart, so the industrial/romantic mismatch reads before the first word at 3.28 s.
  • Each line gets visual proof: a high-load machine at 0:19–0:22, a humanoid on stage at 0:40–0:46, a musical robot at 0:58–1:00, and a seat at 1:01–1:10.
  • The largest replay peak is 1:00.0–1:00.8, where an unusual yellow/red musician gives way to a white seat. Comments singled out the humor and the engineering-to-dating puns.
