SIMA 2: Proof Across Virtual Worlds
A research launch film builds from one gameplay reveal to many task demonstrations, then a rapid cross-world montage.
Field notes / why it works
Moving gameplay poses a mystery before the agent is named around 0:07 and the large title appears around 0:12. Thirty-three shots across visibly different worlds make the capability claims tangible, while the roughly 0.8-second cuts at 1:22–1:26 coincide with the strongest replay peak.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A research product launch starts with apparently ordinary gameplay, then reveals that an agent is controlling it. A calm narrator advances from a specific action to broader capabilities, while recordings from many worlds supply the proof; the final montage and short live-action coda expand the stakes beyond the screen.
Why it works
- The reveal is earned visually: a player avatar runs toward a ship for the first 9.7 seconds; the narration identifies the agent at roughly 0:07 and the large product title arrives at 0:12.
- Breadth is demonstrated, not merely listed: the 0:21–1:20 sequence crosses stylized, realistic, blocky, first-person, and third-person worlds, with occasional instruction and reasoning overlays.
- The tightest montage comes at 1:21–1:26, around the 1:22.3–1:23.3 replay peak. Five roughly 0.8-second shots make transfer across worlds feel concrete.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 97.7 s measured at 640×360, 25 fps |
| Pace | 33 measured shots; 32 cuts, 19.6 cuts/min. Fourteen uncertain motion/flash changes put the upper estimate at 28.2/min. Mean shot 2.96 s; median 1.89 s. |
| Script | 158 spoken words; 105 wpm across runtime, 147 wpm while speaking; eight long sentences, no direct questions. |
| Voice | One low-register adult narrator; measured median pitch 111 Hz, controlled but moderately varied delivery. |
| On screen | About 90% screen/gameplay or simulated-world footage, about 7% motion/title cards, about 3% live-action research/lab coda (visual estimate). Multiple source-game styles; no presenter. |
| Captions | No persistent editorial subtitles. Small source UI remains visible; occasional white-on-black rounded reasoning cards and lower-third instructions. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal bed measured between speech; no clear systematic cut effects. Integrated −19 LUFS; true peak −5.9 dBFS. |
| Structure | Mystery/reveal → capability proof → self-improvement → transfer → rapid montage → real-world implication. No spoken CTA. |
