Dyson V15 Detect: Making Dust Visible
A 66-second product film turns hidden dust into visible proof, then moves through macro engineering shots to a purchase card.
Field notes / why it works
The narrator names the unusual laser feature by 0:04 while a continuous product move builds anticipation; green light makes the hidden dust visible by 0:07–0:11. Nine main shots move from real-floor proof to microscopic and engineering detail, then back to cleaning, while the strongest replay peak at 0:54.1–0:54.8 coincides with the simple product-and-purchase card.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A widescreen product commercial turns an invisible household problem into something the viewer can see. A measured narrator names the surprising feature in the first four seconds, then macro demonstrations move from visible evidence to mechanism, quantified performance, and a direct purchase card.
Why it works
- The claim arrives at 0:00–0:04 while a dark-floor product move is already underway; the first 11.3 s hold attention through motion within one shot.
- Green light makes dust legible by 0:07–0:11, before the film asks viewers to absorb microscopic particles and sensors at 0:12–0:23.
- The most-replayed peak is 0:54.1–0:54.8, exactly as the demo turns into the simple upright product and purchase card. This is an audience signal, not proof of why each viewer replayed it.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 66.0 s · source 640×360 at 25 fps |
| Pace | 9 detected shots, 8 clear cuts = 7.3 cuts/min; mean 7.33 s, median 6.48 s. Four detected within-shot steps. Fourteen uncertain changes around 0:10–0:16 are mainly rapid visual motion in the sheets, so treat 7.3–20 cuts/min as the measurement range, not 20 confirmed cuts/min. |
| Script | 121 recognized words · 123 wpm over the film, 141 wpm during speech · eight sentences · no questions |
| Voice | Polished, medium-register commercial narrator; controlled and matter-of-fact. No person appears. |
| On screen | Product footage or product-like renders throughout; floor demos, macro internals, particles, final pack shot. No talking head or speech captions. |
| Captions | None. Sparse product identity and purchase text only. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal bed is indicated by audio analysis, but its genre and instrumentation are unverified; no clear cut-synced effects. Measured −23.1 LUFS integrated, −9.5 dBFS true peak. |
| Structure | Claim → reveal → microscopic mechanism → adaptive cleaning → engineering proof → home result → direct purchase card. CTA starts about 0:54. |
