The Cost of Regret
A 42-second cinematic ride ad turns a small choice into a priced regret, then reveals the cheaper ride and a single action.
Field notes / why it works
A moving branded car crosses the opening wide shot before any speech, while six cuts in the first 10 seconds quickly establish two characters and a choice. The pace then opens into a 12.77-second street sequence, allowing the regret amount at about 0:22 and the most-replayed nuisance line around 0:29.8 to register before the lower ride price at 0:33.3. A plain instruction at 0:36 and four-second logo hold make the outcome easy to remember.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A polished, rainy-night microdrama makes a mundane choice feel consequential. It waits until 0:22 to name the cost of regret, then contrasts that cost with the product price at 0:33 and ends with a plain instruction at 0:36–0:38. The selling point arrives through the story before the logo.
Why it works
- The first 2.9 seconds show a branded car passing a warm, active storefront at night, opening a question without explanatory text or speech.
- The first six cuts occur before 0:10; the edit then slows into a long 0:13.9–0:26.6 street sequence so the consequence can land.
- The most-replayed interval, 0:29.8–0:30.2, holds on the rain-soaked character with a specific extra cost; the R50 product price follows at 0:33.3 after an R600 regret price.
