Field notes / why it works

A single whiteboard world makes a dense lecture visual while requiring only five detected shots in six minutes; the drawing, labels, and camera travel carry the motion. The core two-sided contradiction at 0:20–0:27 and its mechanism at 0:54–1:00 align with the two strongest replay peaks. Counts at 1:09–1:30 and a comic story at 1:52–2:26 make the abstract argument concrete before it expands to bigger systems.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A lively lecture excerpt explains an uncomfortable human contradiction while a visible hand builds one sprawling black-ink cartoon on white. The viewer watches a single thesis become people, numbers, speech bubbles, places, and a final experiment; the drawing is the visual explanation, not a subtitle track.

Why it works

  • The central tension arrives at 0:13–0:30: people want a good self-image and the benefit of rule-breaking. The 0:20–0:27 replay peak sits on the two-sided drawing of that idea.
  • The proof becomes scale at 1:09–1:30: a few large offenders versus many small offenders are drawn with counts and totals, then linked to social impact around 1:33–1:50.
  • A comic father-and-child story at 1:52–2:26 makes the abstraction easy to remember; later, the mural expands from petty acts to finance, a restaurant, downloading, and a values experiment.
