Field notes / why it works

The white 1961 date over flower arranging (0:00.75) and blue monochrome TV pitch create a period world before the product appears. The modern phone enters around 0:23, coinciding with the 0:23.8–0:24.3 replay peak; three readable steps then prove the instant-answer claim by 0:45. A clean store listing and logo card close the sale by 0:53.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A knowingly old-fashioned television commercial asks how people in an earlier era would solve a familiar problem with a present-day product. A silent character inhabits the period room while a brisk, low-register announcer sells an impossible convenience; the film then cuts from the vintage television to a modern phone and proves the claim in three steps.

Why it works

  • The opening plants a date over flower arranging at 0:00.75, while the announcer discusses everyday “instant” goods. The present-day product remains a curiosity until the question about instant answers around 0:09.5.
  • The vintage monochrome TV and warm, colourful room alternate through 0:18; at 0:23.1 the modern phone enters. That collision of eras is the visual payoff, and the replay peak is 0:23.8–0:24.3.
  • The sales claim becomes a compact proof: question, action button, generated answer from roughly 0:25–0:45, followed by the app-store card at 0:49–0:53.
