The Price of Regret
A cinematic ride ad turns a small missed choice into a costly night, then resolves it with two stark price lines.
Field notes / why it works
The first 3 seconds silently show a car passing a warm storefront, planting the solution before the story explains the problem. Six cuts in the first 10 seconds establish the people quickly, then a 12.77-second street shot creates space for the regret reveal. Matching white lines around 0:24 and 0:33 turn the 55 € versus 7 € comparison into a visual punchline before the app instruction at 0:35.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A polished, 42-second narrative ad turns a small decision into an outsized, slightly absurd regret. Its spoken scene plays first; only near 24 seconds does a plain white price line name the cost of that regret, then a lower product price and a direct app instruction resolve it.
Why it works
- The 0:00–0:03 exterior shows a car passing a bright shop without product copy, opening a visual question before the first word at 0:03.8.
- Seven of 13 cuts land by 0:10; character, place and relationship are set up quickly before the long, tense night-street hold at 0:13.9–0:26.6.
- The two matching white price lines at roughly 0:23.9 and 0:33.3 make the comparison easy to grasp: 55 € for regret versus 7 € for a ride. The instruction follows at 0:34.8.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 42.0 s · measured copy 640×360 at 25 fps |
| Pace | 14 shots, 13 cuts, 18.6 cuts/min; 4 internal graphic changes, 24.3 picture changes/min; mean shot 3.0 s, median 2.32 s |
| Script | Automated transcript: 56 words, 96 wpm across the whole film, 127 wpm while speaking; language recognition is unreliable, so use these as approximate pace only |
| Voice | Natural, conversational adult dialogue; a restrained, serious payoff line. Speech begins at 0:03.8. |
| On screen | Approximately 80% live-action character and street scene, 20% car/exterior and brand resolution; no talking-to-camera presenter or product UI |
| Captions | Sparse, centered, white sentence-style price statements; no running subtitles |
| Sound | Low tonal bed and ambient city/scene sound (bed classification inferred from audio data); no clear accent on most cuts; measured −12.9 LUFS, −2.5 dBFS true peak |
| Structure | Exterior → salon exchange → night-street consequence → regret price → alternative price → spoken instruction → logo |
