A Robot Learns the Ghost Rabona
A branded robot skill reveal uses rapid camera inserts, a slow physical breakdown, and a two-part payoff.
Field notes / why it works
The robot and ball move from frame one, then ten cuts in the first 10 seconds turn the maneuver into a mystery. A 9.05-second wide demonstration at 0:16.4 lets viewers inspect the mechanics, while the two bold labels at 0:27–0:29 make the payoff easy to remember. The most-replayed peak at 0:37.7–0:38.2 lands on the overhead branded close.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A physical performer opens mid-action, then a brisk voice names a newly learned trick. Fast monochrome “evidence” inserts promise an unusual result; the middle shows its mechanics in a sustained wide take; a two-part text payoff and compact branded close turn the stunt into an understandable capability story.
Why it works
- The first frame already shows the robot controlling a ball; the one-shot opening lasts 2.84 s while the narration gives context instead of delaying the action.
- Ten cuts arrive in the first 10 s, including a run of 0.29–0.42 s surveillance-style inserts at 0:02.8–0:04.8. The picture changes make one maneuver feel worth investigating.
- The explanation stays on the full-body action for 9.05 s at 0:16.4–0:25.5. The labels at 0:27.2 and 0:28.2 reduce the move to two memorable parts before the brand reveal at 0:29.4.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 640×360 source · 23.98 fps · 48.9 s total; active story about 39 s |
| Pace | 22 measured shots, 21 cuts; 25.8–30.7 cuts/min allowing four uncertain changes; 31.9 picture changes/min; mean shot 2.22 s, median 1.4 s. The 11.86 s last shot includes the end slate. |
| Script | 83 spoken words; 173 wpm overall and 190 wpm while speaking; no question hook. Speech ends around 0:29. |
| Voice | Bright, brisk, medium-register explanatory narrator; animated emphasis, then silent branded close. |
| On screen | About 60% full-colour warehouse robot action, 15% monochrome camera/football proof, 5% sports example insert, 20% title/brand/end slate (approximate, inferred from shot durations). |
| Captions | Sparse small white sentence overlays and step labels, then large uppercase white keyword cards. These are editorial callouts, not a full subtitle track. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal music-like bed around −24.8 dBFS; speech about 6.7 dB louder; −15.1 LUFS integrated, −2.9 dBFS true peak; no clearly measured cut-specific effects. |
| Structure | Action/context → evidence montage → named mystery → sports analogy → three-step physical explanation → two-part payoff → brand → social CTA → subscribe slate. |
