A silent steering comparison

A 40-second side-by-side driving demonstration culminates in a four-panel comparison of steering effort and wheel response.

Field notes / why it works

The first second pairs the driver's input with the wheel's response and reveals the label by 0:00.75, so the claim is demonstrated before it is explained. A matched conventional steering shot starts at 0:08.6, then a four-panel view at 0:24.4 makes both systems directly comparable; replay peaks at 0:04.9–0:05.3 and 0:31.2–0:31.6 coincide with those motion demonstrations.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A person turns a steering control while the viewer simultaneously sees the wheel respond. The first 8.6 seconds show the new system, the next 15.8 seconds show a familiar mechanical system, and the final 15.6 seconds put both actions together in one four-panel comparison. The promise is visible in the first second: compare the effort required to get a result.

Why it works

  • The opening combines hand and outcome in the same frame; the label is fully readable by about 0:00.75, before the demonstration begins at about 0:02.
  • The change at 0:08.6 resets the viewer's reference point. The final four-panel view at 0:24.4 makes the comparison simultaneous rather than relying on memory.
  • The most replayed interval, 0:04.9–0:05.3, shows a large steering movement alongside the responding front wheel; a second replay peak at 0:31.2–0:31.6 falls inside the four-panel comparison.
