A Dorm Room Starts to Feel Like Home
A 30-second narrative Google Search ad turns a homesick student's specific phone query into a visible dorm-room change.
Field notes / why it works
The first five seconds establish a person, an old group photo, and homesickness before the product appears. A readable, specific phone query holds from 0:13.1 to 0:19.6, then its answer becomes hands-on room action at the strongest replay point, 0:20.8–0:21.1. A visitor's reaction at 0:23.4 validates the change before the brand line.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A narrated mini film introduces a young adult in an emotionally familiar transition, lets them state a specific need into a phone, shows a real answer, and turns that answer into a visible change in their room. The product solves a modest, concrete part of the larger feeling; the brand line arrives only after the physical payoff.
Why it works
- The 0:00–0:05 opening gives a person, place, and problem before naming the product; the picture changes only once in the first 3 seconds, allowing the situation to register.
- At 0:09–0:19, an actual phone query and result make the product's role legible. The phrase is unusually specific, so the help feels tailored rather than generic.
- The most replayed peak, 0:20.8–0:21.1, is the start of the hands-on room change. The payoff is a physical action, followed by another person's reaction at 0:23.4.
