Cal Flats solar and Megapack scale film
Aerial, text-led infrastructure film that turns solar and battery capacity into visible scale and everyday benefits.
Field notes / why it works
A map and place label establish context before the vast 2,900-acre aerial at 0:03–0:05, which overlaps the strongest replay peak at 0:04. It builds from 280 MW and a 100,000-home equivalence at 0:14–0:19 to the 240 MWh battery reveal at 0:33–0:38, then uses domestic inserts at 0:44–0:47 to explain the practical benefit.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A polished, music-led infrastructure film turns an unfamiliar energy installation into something viewers can grasp. It starts with place and aerial scale, translates capacity into household and emissions equivalents, then shows the storage hardware and its everyday purpose.
Why it works
- The opening map outline and county label orient the viewer by 0:01, while the 2,900-acre aerial at 0:03–0:05 supplies immediate physical proof.
- Numbers climb from 280 MW and 100,000 homes at 0:14–0:19 to 240 MWh of storage at 0:33–0:38; each appears over relevant footage rather than an abstract chart.
- The last third answers what the hardware is for: product close-ups at 0:40, home demand at 0:44–0:47, outage context at 0:49, then a wide facility close at 0:54.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 57.7 s; measured file 640×360 at 23.98 fps |
| Pace | 19 shots, 18 cuts, 18.7 cuts/min; 13 internal text/picture steps, 32.3 picture changes/min; mean shot 3.04 s, median 2.67 s |
| Script | On-screen documentary statements, generally one compact claim per image; no reliable spoken script established |
| Voice | No intelligible narrator confirmed; the 15-word machine transcript is low confidence and unrelated to the visible story |
| On screen | Approx. 75% moving aerial/site and landscape footage, 15% battery close-ups, 10% homes and household-demand inserts (estimated from sheets) |
| Captions | Small, centered white sentence-case fact cards, often one or two lines, placed near the visual center |
| Sound | Continuous music-like bed (inferred); rough 89 BPM; −12.9 LUFS integrated, −2.1 dBFS true peak; no clear cut SFX |
| Structure | Location → site scale → output and public benefit → storage reveal → use case → mission close; no spoken CTA or loop |
