Fractal Curves Filling the Frame
A continuous black-canvas animation turns simple recursive lines into coloured space-filling forms, then tests the rule through a changing seed angle.
Field notes / why it works
The first recursion jumps rapidly from a simple path to a dense pattern at 0:09.2–0:10.8, the strongest replay peak. Nineteen internal visual changes sustain a 153-second single-canvas film, while outline-to-colour reveals around 0:15, 0:35 and 1:02 give each new rule a visible payoff. The seed/result comparison after 2:04 turns the closing abstraction into a clear experiment.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A single black stage lets mathematical lines draw, subdivide, and become coloured fields. Sparse, small editorial text names each idea; the viewer watches a simple rule produce increasingly surprising shapes. The implied promise appears by about 0:04, when the opening visual gives way to the first line construction.
Why it works
- The strongest replay peak, 0:09.2–0:10.8, is the first clear jump from a simple path to a tiled recursive pattern. The transformation supplies proof before a long explanation.
- The structure escalates scale: line at about 0:08, densely filled square by 0:15, coloured area at 0:33, then a new triangular family at 0:50.
- Comments repeatedly call the animation satisfying and react to the later named curve and angle paradox; the visual result works for casual viewing while the rule rewards close inspection.

| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 2:33.1 · source capture 640×360 at 29.97 fps |
| Pace | One continuous animated canvas; 0 hard cuts/min; 19 measured internal step changes, about 7.4/min; the single detected shot lasts 153.05 s |
| Script | Brief on-screen explanatory sentences, not burned subtitles; no reliable spoken script. The automatic five-word transcript is likely music misrecognition (inferred). |
| Voice | None reliably audible or evidenced; use visual explanation and music. |
| On screen | Nearly 100% code-rendered motion graphics on black; no presenter or footage. |
| Captions | Small white serif explanatory text at upper left; occasional larger centered serif curve name or bottom labels. |
| Sound | Continuous quiet tonal/music-like bed, roughly 117 BPM (uncertain); measured −25.0 LUFS integrated, −11.4 dBFS true peak. |
| Structure | Opening trace → square recursion → triangular recursion → named forms → parameter experiment and final shape; no CTA. |
