Regret Has a Price

A cinematic night-street story delays its product pitch until a stark 280 RON versus 26 RON cost reveal.

Field notes / why it works

A car crossing the wet storefront in the first 2.9 seconds plants the solution inside a story before speech starts. Six early cuts establish the social choice, then the pace slows for the night-street consequence. The delayed 280 RON regret card near 24 seconds and 26 RON ride card near 33 seconds make the payoff concrete and easy to compare.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A polished miniature drama follows a person leaving a warm, social place and confronting a costly consequence outside at night. The product enters late as a concrete, cheaper alternative: the contrast between 280 RON for the regret and 26 RON for the Uber ride is the payoff, not an opening sales pitch.

Why it works

  • The opening 2.9-second wide shot holds on a car crossing a wet, lit street; the brand appears as part of the scene before anyone speaks at 3.3 s.
  • Fast salon coverage from 2.9–11.8 s (six cuts) establishes people and choice; the much longer, darker street passage from 13.9–26.6 s changes the mood.
  • Specific costs arrive in sequence: “Prețul regretului: 280 RON” around 23.9 s, then “Prețul unei curse Uber: 26 RON” around 33.3 s. The viewer can do the comparison instantly.

ScriptSpeech starts at 3.28 s. Automated transcript reports 31 words, 48 wpm overall / 91 while speaking, but misidentifies Romanian as French; treat these as rough only. Use sparse dialogue and long visual pauses.
VoiceTwo adult conversational speakers, then a calm corrective line; natural dialogue rather than announcer narration.
On screenLive-action exterior establishing, medium and close salon dialogue, wet-street consequence, cost cards over footage, product car, end logo.
CaptionsNo continuous karaoke captions; small white, sentence-style subtitles and centered white price statements appear late.
SoundTonal music-like bed detected; no clear whooshes or hits on cuts. Integrated −13.0 LUFS, true peak −2.5 dBFS.
Structure8 beats: situate → social choice → question → street turn → regret cost → added consequence → alternative price → advice/logo.
