An animated world tour for Duocon
A 30-second mascot-led event teaser that saves its name and date for a clean final card.
Field notes / why it works
One spoken greeting and a phone action make the opening readable before the mascot enters at 0:01.5. The animation grows from close-up to a dense world tour, then the full cast returns at the strongest replay peak (0:26.7–0:27.0) immediately before the event/date reveal at 0:27.4.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
An expressive 2D character starts with a tiny everyday interaction, then a mascot turns that interaction into a tour through a bright product world. The viewer only learns the explicit event name and date on the final, still end card at 27.4 s. The first 27 seconds sell the feeling and scale of the world; the last 2.6 seconds name the invitation.
Why it works
- A face, a phone and the single spoken greeting “Bonjour!” establish a clear mini-scene by 0:01; a small green mascot interrupts it by 0:01.5.
- The picture escalates from a phone close-up (0:01–0:03) to graphic travel and a dense card/landmark sequence (0:15–0:24). The longest shot is 8.66 s, yet internal object motion keeps it active.
- The cast returns at 0:26.7–0:27.0, the strongest replay peak, directly before the date card. The eye gets a character payoff before the message.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 640×360 source · 30.0 s · 24 fps |
| Pace | 10 detected shots; 9 certain cuts = 18/min; fast animation creates up to 9 uncertain visual breaks, so apparent pace is roughly 18–36 cuts/min. Mean shot 3.0 s; median 2.06 s. |
| Script | One spoken word, a greeting at 0:00; no narration, explanatory sentences or subtitle track. About 2 spoken words/min over the full runtime. |
| Voice | Brief animated character greeting, then music-led visual storytelling. |
| On screen | 100% bespoke flat 2D animation: character close-ups, phone/app motif, abstract travel, cards/landmarks, ensemble and logo card. |
| Captions | None. One speech bubble, tiny in-world app text, and a final logo/date card. |
| Sound | Music pulse measured near 144 BPM; −14.0 LUFS integrated, 0.0 dBFS measured true peak. Cut accents are not clearly established by the measurement. |
| Structure | 5 broad beats: greeting → mascot interruption → expanding journey → ensemble return → event/date reveal. Explicit invitation lands at 27.4 s. |
