Grizzlies: a cinematic AI fable
A panoramic, nearly wordless AI short film that moves from tender animal-family play to a blue-white survival sequence.
Field notes / why it works
The 2.46-second landscape opening cuts to giant paws while a tender voice enters, creating a scale mystery resolved when the small protagonist appears beside a bear around 0:07. Specific rituals across 0:23–0:52 build attachment, then the abrupt gold-to-blue blizzard turn at 1:06 supplies conflict and carries the film to refuge at 1:37. Forty-five shots in 105 seconds give it motion without crowding the quiet, speech-free majority.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A panoramic, almost wordless fable follows a childlike protagonist among huge animal protectors. Tender proximity turns into play, a journey, a winter threat, and a quiet homecoming. The emotional story demonstrates what generated video can sustain across many scenes; the brand is disclosed at the start and signed at the end.
Why it works
- Scale supplies the hook: the opening forest/waterfall holds for 2.46 seconds, then cuts to giant paws before revealing the small protagonist beside a bear at about 0:07.
- The middle earns attachment through varied actions rather than explanation: berry gathering at 0:23–0:33, play and group contact at 0:34–0:44, salmon at 0:45–0:52, and a ridge journey at 0:52–1:06.
- A strong tonal turn at 1:06 moves from warm gold to blue-white snow and a wolf threat through 1:29; the retreat toward the snowy den at 1:37 closes the tension without a spoken explanation.

| Pace | 45 measured shots, 44 cuts, 25.1 cuts/min; up to 40.5 if all 27 uncertain motion events are cuts. Mean shot 2.33 s, median 1.88 s; six confirmed internal picture changes. |
| Script | 16 detected words in the first ~11 s, a repeated three-word affection phrase. Speech is absent for roughly 90% of runtime. Detection has five low-confidence words; use sparse speech, not the exact transcript. |
| Voice | Brief low-register, emotionally animated human voice; pitch measurement may include music. No continuing narrator. |
| On screen | Nearly 100% generated cinematic scenes: environmental wides, character close-ups, action inserts, and group tableaux. Final black logo card. |
| Captions | No running subtitles. One tiny white disclosure centered over the opening landscape; small white corner watermark during the film. |
| Sound | Tonal, music-like bed throughout (measured); ~117 BPM is a low-confidence estimate. −17.1 LUFS integrated, −8.9 dBFS true peak. No clear cut-synced effects. |
| Structure | 6 beats: disclosure/mystery → bond → play/abundance → migration → snow/threat → return and logo. No in-film spoken CTA. |
