Dog makeover becomes a video template gallery

A 30-second Canva Video ad turns rapid pet outfit changes into a phone template choice and a carousel of finished designs.

Field notes / why it works

Four outfit looks appear by 2.9 seconds, with the first cut at 0.27 seconds, making the result the hook. The 7.7–17.2-second gallery and phone choice show a simple path from many options to one selection, then the 17.2–21.9-second finished-card carousel proves range with the same subject. A still end card from 26.5 seconds gives the product and action room to register.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A small, appealing subject appears in several dramatic looks before a person reveals the simple product workflow behind the finished content. A rapid gallery of alternatives creates abundance; one selection becomes several designed results. The product name and action arrive on a clean final card.

Why it works

  • Four distinct looks arrive in the first 2.9 s, with the first cut at 0.27 s. The viewer sees the visual promise before any explanation.
  • The middle turns the makeover into a repeatable action: a scrolling template gallery at 7.7–11.9 s, then phone selection at 11.9–17.2 s.
  • At 17.2–21.9 s, the chosen subject appears across several finished designs, so the payoff shows variety rather than one isolated result.

Pace12 measured shots; 11 certain cuts, 22 cuts/min. Sixteen rapid gallery/card changes are uncertain as cuts; plausible range 22–54 cuts/min. Mean shot 2.5 s, median 2.1 s.
ScriptAbout 40 detected words, 83 wpm across runtime or 152 wpm while speaking. Recognition is unreliable, especially the first and last lines; use the count and delivery, not the transcript wording.
VoicePlayful, animated, conversational adult presenter; medium register, short phrases and reactive exclamations.
On screenApproximately 12 s live-action pet/presenter footage, 5 s phone interaction, 9 s template/result gallery, 4 s brand end card; several sections combine footage with graphics.
CaptionsNo running subtitles. Branding and template headlines carry the legible text.
SoundContinuous tonal/music-like bed (inferred), speech, no reliably identified cut effects; measured −16.1 LUFS integrated, −4.9 dBFS true peak.
StructureSix beats: rapid visual hook, human setup, choice overload, selection, result montage, logo/action card. Payoff starts about 17.2 s; end card starts 26.5 s.
