A Civilization Consumed by Its Feed

An 83-second AI-made cyberpunk cautionary film that turns sensory bliss into a red-alarm collapse.

Field notes / why it works

The first six seconds hold one screaming visor close-up, but intense internal motion and direct-address narration make it feel faster than its cut rate. Twenty-nine vivid shots give each abstract cost a literal cybernetic image; the warning turn at 0:52 is the strongest replay peak, followed by a clear red/black failure palette and collapse at 1:03.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A low, accusatory narrator addresses a civilization as “you” while a vertical montage shows people happily surrendering themselves to a seductive system. At 0:52, the system visibly fails; catastrophe arrives while people still treat it as entertainment. The promise is a miniature cautionary story with a late reversal, not a lesson or product demonstration.

Why it works

  • Frame one is a screaming, visor-wearing face amid pulsing screens, while the first words accuse the viewer directly; motion keeps changing within a six-second shot even though there is no cut before 0:06.
  • The narration turns abstract harms into literal cybernetic tableaux: machine-clamped skull at 0:05, praise pods at 0:17, spectacle crowd at 0:19, screen clawing at 0:39.
  • The strongest replay peak, 0:52.1–0:52.9, sits on the unsettling smiling cyborg and the arrival of warnings. The film then switches from cyan/pink pleasure to red alarms and fire (0:54–1:15).
