A Taxi ETA Becomes a Sixth Sense
A 30-second live-action Uber ad turns a visible arrival time into a playful route prediction and countdown payoff.
Field notes / why it works
The phone promises a one-minute arrival by 0:04.6, making the rest of the film a testable prediction. A rapid street journey and small dog at 0:10.2–0:10.5 turn the map into a comic vision; that interval is the strongest replay peak. The five-count at 0:19 resolves with the real taxi at 0:22–0:25, then a dry exchange gives the spectacle a human button.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A person waits for a service in a busy city. A phone gives a precise arrival signal; the person theatrically predicts the vehicle's path as if possessing a sixth sense, while the film rapidly shows the places and obstacles on that route. A countdown becomes a real arrival, and a companion's dry reaction punctures the grand performance.
Why it works
- The phone shows “1 minute” by 0:04.6, establishing a simple test that the remaining 25 seconds can pay off.
- At 0:08.3–0:13.8, the camera races down the street and lands on a small dog and other street details: an ordinary ETA becomes a concrete, playful mental movie. The most-replayed point is 0:10.2–0:10.5, amid this route reveal.
- The 5-to-1 countdown starts around 0:19 and the branded taxi appears at 0:23.5; the visual promise resolves before the final deadpan exchange.

| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 640 × 360 analysed source · 30.0 s · 30 fps |
| Pace | 18 detected shots, 17 cuts / 34 cuts per minute; 11 uncertain motion changes could raise that to 56/min. Mean shot 1.67 s, median 1.32 s. First cut 2.77 s. |
| Script | Japanese conversational dialogue. Automated speech segmentation reports 76 units and 168 wpm overall, 206 while talking; 35 units have low confidence, so treat this as a loose pacing guide, not a literal word budget. |
| Voice | Animated middle-register adult speaker performing exaggerated concentration; calm adult companion provides a brief, dry response. No omniscient voiceover. |
| On screen | Live-action city, actors and moving traffic; brief phone UI close-ups; vehicle POV/tracking; one stylised aerial route visual; product-branded taxi and end card. |
| Captions | Small white Japanese dialogue subtitles at bottom centre; larger white labels only over route visual. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal/music-like bed measured beneath dialogue; street/vehicle presence (inferred from setting); few detectable cut accents. −14.2 LUFS integrated, −2.6 dBFS true peak. |
| Structure | Five beats: wait and ETA → mock psychic vision → route escalation → countdown and arrival → companion button, then logo. No spoken CTA. |
