The Avocado Word Debate
A playful 2D language explainer turns a regional word dispute into visual jokes, then resolves both sides before a comment-storm stinger.
Field notes / why it works
The speaking character animates within a stable first shot, while the actual question arrives at 0:08.6 and opens a dispute. Three brisk example cards from 0:30.8 and an absurd pig-car image at 0:45.1 make the teaching visual; that gag overlaps the strongest replay window. The answer is delayed until about 1:10.5, then competing comment bubbles at 1:27–1:31 add a final joke.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A friendly animated host revisits a seemingly simple language question, finds that commenters disagree, then explains why both answers can be valid. The engine is a shift from personal embarrassment to increasingly absurd visual examples, followed by a generous resolution.
Why it works
- The host names the dispute by 0:08.6, while expressive eyes, mouth, and hands animate a single held composition through the first 7.75 seconds.
- Rapid graphic swaps between 0:30.8 and 0:46.7 make the abstract point tangible: two term cards, then a car, then a pig shaped like a car. The pig gag overlaps the top replay window, 0:45.1–0:46.1.
- The explanation delays its answer until 1:10.5, then replaces argument with a warm “both” resolution. New cheering and hostile comment bubbles at 1:26–1:31 turn that resolution into one last joke.
