Field notes / why it works

The question is spoken by 0:05.8, then quantities become readable map, city and object comparisons instead of remaining abstract. A first outcome resolves by 4:03, while the bigger question at 4:04 and the 4:43–4:47 countdown create a second payoff; the 4:11.3–4:15.6 scale comparison is the strongest replay peak.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A calm narrator asks an outsized “what if” question over a playful illustrated world, grounds the premise in numbers, simulates one outcome, and then raises the ceiling for a second simulation. The apparent simplicity of the flat shapes makes very large scales and severe consequences legible.

Why it works

  • The promise arrives in the opening question at 0:05.8, while the first frame supplies a colorful place to inhabit before the stakes rise.
  • Numeric claims repeatedly become pictures: 15,000 warheads at 1:48, a city comparison at 0:55, and a mountain-sized scale comparison at 4:17. The 4:11.3–4:15.6 comparison sequence is the strongest replay peak.
  • The first simulation resolves by 4:03, then “what if more?” at 4:04 opens a larger loop; a three-count at 4:43–4:47 delays its payoff.
