Field notes / why it works

An ordinary fish plate appears by 0:00.5 under an ominous spoken opening, creating a question before the title appears at 0:26. Gameplay hazards make the premise concrete from about 0:58, then the edit jumps to 14 cuts during 1:20–1:30; the glass-fracture moment at 1:19.8–1:20.8 is the top replay peak.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A story-led game trailer starts with an incongruous, quiet image and a spoken omen, names the game after 26 seconds, then lets increasingly dangerous gameplay explain the experience. A fast, fractured climax resolves into one clean title and wish-list card.

Why it works

  • The opening makes an ordinary dinner plate uncanny at 0:00.5; the first cut arrives at 0:00.43, before the viewer understands the image.
  • It changes modes: sparse narration and rooms through 0:33, obstacle footage from about 0:58, then 14 cuts during 1:20–1:30.
  • The most-replayed second, 1:19.8–1:20.8, combines an urgent text box, a face at a window, and a sudden glass fracture. The replay signal is associated with that interruption, though it does not prove why individuals replayed it.
