An asteroid defense plan, tested in animation
A Spanish animated science explainer tests intuitive asteroid defenses before revealing a more precise collision strategy.
Field notes / why it works
The crisis starts at 0:08.9 and gains concrete scale through speed and impact figures by 0:26. A labeled near-miss orbit diagram coincides with the strongest measured replay span (0:37.9–0:45.5), while failures at 2:05, 2:35, and 3:16 make the 4:02 method reveal feel earned. Across the measured first 6:00, 42 changes inside 47 animated shots keep the explanation visually active without constant cuts.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A narrated, brightly illustrated thought experiment makes an enormous threat concrete, tests intuitive fixes, then introduces a more precise solution. The viewer follows a single visual simulation across space, maps, control rooms, and playful physical analogies; each apparent answer creates the next question.
Why it works
- The actual crisis arrives at 0:08.9, then the scenario gains scale through a stadium-size object, speed, and citywide impact by 0:26.
- The strongest replayed span within the measured excerpt, 0:37.9–0:45.5, turns a near-miss into an orbit diagram with a labeled object and distance comparison.
- The video tests increasingly plausible fixes at 2:05, 2:35, and 3:16 before the new method at 4:02, so the answer feels earned.

| Pace | 47 measured shots; 46 cuts = 7.7/min, or up to 9.8/min counting uncertain changes; 42 changes within shots; about 14.7 picture changes/min; mean shot 7.66 s, median 6.0 s |
| Script | Spanish; 945 measured words in 6:00, 158 wpm overall / 178 while speaking; 47 sentences averaging 20.1 words; 17 number mentions |
| Voice | Single low-register, animated, reassuring science narrator; no visible presenter |
| On screen | Nearly all full-frame 2D animation: space diagrams, characters, scale comparisons, action simulations, and a few title/step cards |
| Captions | No continuous subtitles visible in the sheets; short labels and diagram text appear at relevant moments |
| Sound | Continuous tonal music-like bed, about 11 dB below speech; −14.4 LUFS integrated, −2.6 dBFS true peak; distinct cut SFX unconfirmed |
| Structure | Promotional cold open → danger → evidence → weak solutions → failed attempts → new method → logistics and demonstration; measured excerpt ends mid-demonstration |
