Questions That Shape Energy
A cinematic energy brand film turns present-day anxieties into four documented answers, then pays them off with everyday human life.
Field notes / why it works
The first image cut waits until 3.67 seconds, giving the tiny question on white room to land. Four problem-and-answer chapters at 0:39–1:09 turn corporate history into proof, while the 13 cuts at 1:30–1:40 shift the payoff from infrastructure to ordinary people; the peak replay window at 0:11.2–0:12.3 overlaps the AI/data-center turn.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A cinematic corporate film frames changing energy needs as a series of questions, answers each with a dated capability or project, then ends with ordinary people enjoying the result. A sparse, almost blank opening delays the visual answer; archival and present-day proof accelerate into a warm human montage and brand line.
Why it works
- The 0:00–0:03.7 blank white screen makes the small question at the bottom feel deliberate; the first cut comes only at 3.67 seconds.
- The repeatable problem/answer rhythm from 0:39–1:09 turns company history into four proofs instead of an undifferentiated list.
- The most-replayed window, 0:11.2–0:12.3, moves from dark weather and code into AI/data-center imagery. The cut density rises again to 13 cuts in 1:30–1:40, just before the human payoff.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 112 s · source 640×360 at 23.98 fps |
| Pace | 62 shots, 61 cuts; 32.7–33.2 cuts/min; 45.5 picture changes/min including 24 within-shot steps; mean 1.81 s, median 1.25 s |
| Script | Korean narration; 108 whitespace-delimited words by ASR, 59 wpm across the whole film, 83 wpm while speaking. These counts are language/tokenization dependent. Three questions; no second-person address. |
| Voice | One poised, mid-register adult narrator; measured median pitch 193 Hz; moderately expressive rather than conversational |
| On screen | Archival/industrial b-roll, storms and technology, still-photo editorial cards, people, landscape and final collage; no talking head |
| Captions | Bilingual editorial title cards and small English translations, not karaoke subtitles; large Korean headlines appear selectively |
| Sound | Continuous tonal, cinematic bed (music-like by measurement); narration prominent in intent, though level heuristic is unreliable; no clear effects tied to cuts |
| Structure | Question prologue → current anxieties → four historical answers → future bridge → human payoff → brand resolve; no spoken CTA |
