Field notes / why it works

The 8-second opening makes the protagonist feel tiny against a huge, mysterious world; rapid cuts at 0:12–0:14 then make the journey feel urgent. A comic card at 0:46.6–0:47.4 is the strongest replay peak, and the 0:49–1:06 gameplay run proves mechanics before the title and release card arrive.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A 74-second, 16:9 game announcement begins as a mysterious, dramatic journey through a strange environment, introduces a tiny underdog, then changes into fast playable footage and a final title. Its promise starts in the first frame through an oversized location card and restrained narration; the actual game loop becomes clear around 0:50–0:55.

Why it works

  • Scale is the hook: a large environmental title at 0:00–0:08 makes the small hero at 0:04 feel vulnerable before the audience knows the mechanics.
  • It changes modes after the atmospheric setup: 0:49–1:06 shows HUD, movement, obstacles, and a goal in short shots, giving proof behind the cinematic pitch.
  • A visual gag at 0:46.6–0:47.4 is the strongest replay peak; the hero/title payoff at 1:10.3–1:11.0 is a smaller second peak.
