The Price of Taking the Hard Way
A 42-second street comedy lets a ruined plant reveal an emotional cost before showing the cheaper ride price.
Field notes / why it works
A passing branded car plants the solution in the first 2.4 seconds, while close reactions, a low shoe insert and a wide staircase turn an ordinary errand into a visual ordeal. The broken plant at 23.5 seconds carries a 250 zł emotional-cost card; the 24 zł ride card at 30.1 seconds makes the contrast immediate, and a dry character line delivers the next-step prompt before the 38-second logo.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A small, ordinary decision becomes an outsized comic inconvenience. The product is visible at the beginning, disappears while a character suffers through the alternative, then returns as a cheap, simple comparison near the end. The promise arrives explicitly at 0:23.5–0:33.1: the emotional cost of the bad choice is much higher than the displayed ride price.
Why it works
- A branded car crosses the 0:00–0:02.4 opening, planting the solution before the problem is explained.
- The journey is physical and legible without a voiceover: two people, a large pink plant, awkward steps, and finally the broken plant at 0:23.5.
- The two price cards make the gag concrete: 250 zł for guilt at 0:23.5 versus 24 zł for the ride at 0:30.1. A dry human line at 0:34.8 turns the comparison into a behavioral prompt.

| Pace | 19 shots, 18 cuts, 25.8 cuts/min; 3 internal text changes; 30.1 picture changes/min; mean shot 2.2 s, median 2.32 s |
| Script | Sparse Polish character dialogue. Automatic transcription misidentified the language as French and is unusable for exact wording or reliable word count. It reports 21 words/30 overall wpm; treat those as a failed estimate. |
| Voice | Young adult man, hesitant and increasingly breathless (inferred); young adult woman, conversational then dry and matter of fact (inferred). No narrator or presenter. |
| On screen | 18 live-action narrative shots plus the closing live-action brand frame; roughly 21% establishing/product, 63% dialogue and journey, 16% cost and consequence inserts (estimated from shot durations). |
| Captions | No continuous subtitles. Small white centered sentence overlays appear only on the two cost beats and late dialogue; branding is a plain white logo. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal/music-like bed measured around −18.7 dBFS, roughly 5 dB below the detected voice; −14.4 LUFS integrated, −2.7 dBFS true peak. No clear effects tied to cuts. Exact music style is not verifiable from the sheets. |
| Structure | Solution plant → human setup → wrong choice and ordeal → damage/cost → product price → dry correction → logo. Payoff spans 0:23.5–0:38; no replay loop. |
