Gun Nose mystery game Kickstarter trailer
A noir pixel-art game launch trailer that turns a cryptic symbol into gameplay proof, a scope reveal, and a crowdfunding ask.
Field notes / why it works
The red-green symbol-to-machine hook builds curiosity without a cut in the first 8.8 seconds. From 0:30 to 1:00 the trailer demonstrates dialogue, traversal, scanning, and combat; the replay peaks at the giant threat near 1:00 and the scope reveal at 1:08. A slower city-and-logo finish leaves a clear Kickstarter ask at 1:39.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A widescreen animated game trailer opens with a symbol and a shadowy hero, turns a murder mystery into visible top-down play, then reveals a threatening boss and directs the viewer to a crowdfunding campaign. The promise is experiential: a distinctive detective world, dangerous combat, and an unresolved story.
Why it works
- The first 3 seconds use a red-green noir palette, a tiny falling face mark, and a looming gun-barrel silhouette before explaining anything; this visual pattern interrupt creates curiosity.
- The middle moves from character and setting to actual play: dialogue at 0:30–0:35, movement and fire at 0:35–0:43, scanning at 0:44–0:49, and combat at 0:52–1:00. Viewers can see the game loop before the sales ask.
- The replay peak at 1:08–1:09 lands on a character reveal seen through a sniper scope, after a rapid combat run. It pays off the detective tension with a new question about who is in danger.
