Peak's Co-op Climb Launch Trailer
A gameplay-led launch trailer that turns teammate banter and escalating terrain into a late illustrated title reveal.
Field notes / why it works
The trailer drops viewers into a dangerous climb and makes two cuts by 2.3 seconds, then uses sparse teammate dialogue to turn traversal into a social story. Distinct desert, jungle, ice and lava settings escalate the challenge before the bright title appears around 1:20.8, coinciding with the strongest replay peak at 1:20–1:21.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A 91-second, 16:9 game launch trailer begins inside danger, lets a small group of players discover a world and struggle together, then resolves into a bright illustrated title and a minimal availability card. The promise is experiential: this is what attempting the climb with friends feels like. The title and availability promise arrive only at 1:20.8 and 1:25.
Why it works
- The first two cuts occur by 2.3 seconds: a dark first-person cliffside becomes a different perilous angle before any explanation, creating an in-medias-res hook.
- Sparse, excited teammate talk (67 spoken words over 91 seconds) supplies human stakes while the footage proves traversal, hazards and rescue; a long speech-free stretch from roughly 0:48 to 1:08 lets action lead.
- The palette and scale keep changing, from airport comedy at 0:04 to desert, jungle, snow and lava by 1:17. The most-replayed second is 1:20–1:21, at the bright title reveal.
