The gym playlist takes over
A music-service comedy turns a strenuous gym session into private dancing and a bench-press gag.
Field notes / why it works
The 7.17-second opening close-up makes the gym effort and exaggerated expression legible before the first cut. Two phone inserts by 0:17 connect the music product to 23 seconds of escalating private performance, and the return to bench pressing at 0:40 sets up a fast-cut physical payoff before the 0:57 brand cards.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A tough-looking person struggles through a serious task, finds a personally irresistible playlist, and privately commits to it with complete abandon. The story uses the music service as the trigger, then turns the character's absorbed performance into a physical punchline before a plain product end card.
Why it works
- The first 7.2 seconds stay on an extreme, effortful facial expression and moving weights; the visual pattern interrupt is the mismatch between intensity and the music that follows.
- The product receives two clear phone inserts around 10.8 and 15.1 seconds, then nearly 24 seconds of behavior caused by that choice (16.8–40.0), so the benefit is dramatized rather than explained.
- The delayed bench-press return at 40.0 seconds pays off the opening gym setup; rapid angles from 47.5–57.0 seconds sharpen the gag before the end card.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · horizontal 16:9 · 60.1 s at 23.98 fps; source 640×360 |
| Pace | 13 shots, 12–13 cuts/min allowing one uncertain change; 16 picture changes/min; mean shot 4.62 s, median 3.05 s; first cut 7.17 s |
| Script | About 97 detected words, 104 wpm across the film, 164 wpm during vocal sections. Recognition of singing is uncertain; use this as a density guide, not a script target. |
| Voice | Brief shouted effort, then enthusiastic, imperfect private singing by an adult performer; no explanatory narrator |
| On screen | Live-action gym story: actor close-ups, wide mirror performance, two phone inserts, bench action, then two black cards |
| Captions | None over the action; small white centered sans text only on the closing cards |
| Sound | Music-led, upbeat pop; exertion, room sound and equipment accents; song around 10 dB under the vocal regions by the rough measurement |
| Structure | Effort → music choice → private performance → bench gag → benefit and offer cards |
