The Hidden Maze Behind a Simple Game

A cartoon desk explainer reveals that a three-minute choice game branches into more than 100 hidden videos, then directs viewers to play or watch the making-of.

Field notes / why it works

A plain three-card icon at 0:00 clashes with the narrator's claim that the project was unusually hard, opening a clear question before the first cut at 0:05.5. The film answers it visually: a maze at 0:17, choice buttons at 0:24, and a branching diagram with the 100-plus-video reveal at 0:31; that reveal is also a replay peak. The final 53.5-second desk shot swaps graphics to keep two calls to action understandable.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A dry, animated desk presenter admits that a seemingly small interactive game became unexpectedly complex. The film contrasts a simple three-choice icon with a sprawling path diagram, then routes the viewer to either play first or see a behind-the-scenes explanation.

Why it works

  • The opening picture holds still for 5.5 seconds while the voice makes a surprising claim; the plain three-card icon becomes a question that the narration must answer.
  • At 0:12–0:35, the image moves from a three-minute video thumbnail to choice buttons, then a branching map, making the scale reveal visible. “Over a hundred” is stressed at 0:31.
  • The final 53.5-second shot keeps the same presenter frame but changes the projection at 0:41.6, 0:45.4, 0:58.8, 1:07–1:16; the next step stays visible without a barrage of cuts.
