Galaxy S22 Ultra cosmic reveal
An 80-second CGI launch film turns an eclipse into camera hardware before a late stylus and product reveal.
Field notes / why it works
A 9.55-second eclipse opening withholds the product while the glowing circle gradually changes, then the shape carries into lens and machinery imagery at 0:10. The 22-shot film shifts from fast component assembly to recognizable product detail around 0:40, and its clearest tactile payoff at 0:53–0:55 sits at the strongest replay peak.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent-on-copy, music-led product announcement begins with an abstract celestial image. It turns that image into machinery, then into a physical product. The object is withheld until the final third, so the whole film functions as a long reveal rather than a feature list.
Why it works
- The 0:00–0:09.6 eclipse is a slow open loop: the viewer has time to ask what the glowing ring will become before the first cut.
- The middle accelerates into optical and mechanical details: 10 of 21 measured cuts are instant changes, and the median shot is 2.22 seconds.
- The product arrives at 0:39.7–0:41.7, after about half the runtime; the most-replayed region at 0:53.5–0:54.3 coincides with a bright stylus-to-surface effect.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | YouTube · 16:9 · 80.5 s source at 640×360, 29.97 fps; render a new master at 1920×1080, 30 fps |
| Pace | 22 measured shots, 21 certain cuts; 15.7–23.9 cuts/min including uncertain transitions; 21.6 measured picture changes/min; mean 3.66 s, median 2.22 s |
| Script | No spoken sales script. The detector transcribed 64 likely song words, with low confidence on half of them; do not use its 57 WPM as narration pace. |
| Voice | No speaking person. Melodic vocal within music is suggested by the transcription and pitch track (inferred). |
| On screen | About 0:00–0:15 cosmic/abstract imagery; 0:15–0:39 mechanical CGI and component assembly; 0:39–1:18 product detail and hero renders; final logo card. No presenter. |
| Captions | None. Product name appears near 1:15.8; company logo alone near 1:18.6. |
| Sound | Continuous cinematic, tonal music bed; rough ending tempo 150 BPM (or 75 half-time). Cut accents are intermittent, not universal. |
| Structure | 6 beats: mystery → mechanism → force/assembly → first product reveal → tactile feature payoff → title/logo. No spoken CTA or loop. |
