Field notes / why it works

The red bag is recognizable in the first shot, while a green UFO warning at 0:01.6 makes the strange premise readable almost instantly. A cyan beam at 0:05 reframes the snack as the target, and a five-second eating beat contrasts with the fast five-shot struggle from 0:17.1 to 0:24.4. The biggest replay peak at 0:24.9–0:25.2 aligns with the spaceship climax before the calmer final shared-snack joke.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A lone, eccentric person enjoys a visibly branded object in a cluttered room. A strange outside force appears to want that object, setting off a disproportionately cinematic struggle; the final moment turns the threat into a joke about how desirable the object is. The promise becomes clear through action by about 0:06, when the blue beam reaches the bag.

Why it works

  • The first 2.5 seconds pair a red product bag and eccentric character with a green “UFO DETECTED” monitor: a clear collision of everyday and extraordinary.
  • The beam changes the ad's scale at 0:05–0:06; a five-second shot around 0:07–0:12 lets the person keep eating before the action accelerates.
  • The struggle peaks at 0:24–0:26 with a spaceship explosion, the strongest replay area (0:24.9–0:25.2), then the 0:26.5–0:29.9 shot lands the absurd reconciliation.

Pace14 shots, 13 cuts, 26.1 cuts/min, 30.1 picture changes/min including two internal changes; mean shot 2.14 s, median 1.71 s
ScriptMeasured transcript: 27 detected words, about 55 wpm over the full ad. Low confidence: 16 words were flagged, and repeated exclamations may be effects or misheard sounds. Write sparingly, around 20–30 spoken words.
VoiceOne eccentric adult character: muttered setup, surprised exclamations, strained reaction; no narrator (inferred from frames and rough transcript)
On screenAbout 12/14 shots in the room with the person/product; one monitor insert; one exterior spaceship/effect shot. No talking head address to camera.
CaptionsNone; the only prominent text is diegetic green terminal text and branding on the bag.
SoundActive cinematic tonal bed measured between speech, with room/effect sounds likely doing much of the storytelling (inferred); −11.2 LUFS integrated, −0.4 dBFS true peak
StructureSeven beats: setup → warning → beam → comic calm → physical escalation → apparent victory → alien/product joke. No explicit CTA.
