Duolingo Push: Reminders in Real Life

A deadpan mock launch turns phone reminders into an increasingly intrusive costumed mascot.

Field notes / why it works

A 12.55-second opening shot and 0:05.7 speech entrance make the corporate setup feel credible before the absurd service reveal at 0:28–0:35. Gym, workplace, and public outings turn one joke into escalating demonstrations, with the uncomfortable elevator close-up at 1:25.8–1:27.0 drawing the strongest replay peak. A 39-second final shot extends the premise past the CTA into a physical payoff.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A polished company presenter announces a supposedly useful upgrade. Ordinary phone reminders prove inadequate, so the brand's character starts appearing in real places to deliver them; each example becomes more intrusive while the presenter stays cheerful. The promise is stated around 0:28–0:35, after a deliberately slow corporate setup.

Why it works

  • The straight-faced opening gives the absurdity room to surprise: one uninterrupted office shot lasts 12.55 seconds; the first spoken line waits until 0:05.7.
  • Three familiar settings turn a single premise into visual variations: gym at 0:35–0:48, work at 0:48–0:53, and a public outing at 0:53–1:04.
  • The joke escalates from a helpful alert to a silent, imposing presence. The most-replayed peak is the close, uncomfortable elevator encounter at 1:25.8–1:27.0.
